High bay lights can be laid at different distances, most places will suggest you to have a distance of around 14ft to 17ft between each high bay light to get a good illuminated floor or working surface, especially whenever you are using the suitable high bay light according to ceiling height.

For example with Hyperlite’s UFO High Bay Lights (Hero, Apollo and Tale Series) we recommend to use 100w – 14000LM for ceilings between 10ft to 13ft high, 150w – 21000LM for ceilings between 14ft to 17ft high, 200w – 28000LM for ceilings between 18ft to 20ft high and the strongest 250w – 35000LM for ceilings at 21ft or higher.

These height ranges are very similar to the ones used for Will Series LED Linear High Bay Lights we recommend to use 110w – 14300LM for ceilings between 10ft to 13ft high, 160w – 20800LM for ceilings between 14ft to 17ft high, 220w – 28600LM for ceilings between 18ft to 20ft high and the strongest 320w – 41600LM for ceilings at 21ft or higher.

But depending on your application and needs you can adjust your layout and have more fixtures with a shorter distance of separation.

For example above a work bench you can increase the Lumens intensity by adding extra LED High Bay Lights and then control them by using a LED 1-10V Dimmer just for that section or group of lights.

For general purpose areas if you are planning to have more light than normally recommended (more than 70Fc), we would suggest you to always use LED dimmers and if you are using Hero Series High Bay Lights add the accessory 60º Acrylic Reflectors so you can avoid any extra undesired glare.

Additionally you can have extra lights and also have extra separated circuits for the high bay lights so you can for example just turn half of them if you do not need the total amount of Lumens installed with your high bay lights.
